Artist Spotlight: Anwius Reflects on the Journey Behind His Latest EP

This past Friday, we welcomed Reflection, a brand new EP from Anwius, to the Interstellar Audio catalogue. It’s a thoughtful and immersive release, defined by emotive atmospheres, punchy drums, and subtle yet haunting vocals. We caught up with the Warsaw-based producer to learn more about the journey behind the project, his evolution as an artist, and what inspires him.

Let’s start at the beginning. What first sparked your interest in music production?

About 10 years ago, I saw a video of someone playing popular songs on a Launchpad. I didn’t think too hard about it—I just figured I needed one, because how hard could it be, right? Turns out, harder than I thought. I only used it maybe twice before shelving it.

But about a year later, I realised the Launchpad came with a free copy of Ableton Live, and I discovered I could make music with just that. For some reason, I got hooked. Drum and bass pulled me in quickly—mainly because of its fast tempo and the variety of sub-genres. There’s something in it for everyone.

You mentioned sub-genres—your sound definitely leans toward the deep and emotional. What feelings or messages do you try to convey with your music?

It’s hard to put into words. Some emotions don’t quite fit into a single sentence or feeling. I try to create a sonic representation of those moments. But I also don’t like to tell people what a track “should” mean. I’d rather let the listener interpret it in their own way.

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far in your journey as a producer?

Social media, hands down. Balancing my true self with the version I share online has always been tricky. Every time I thought about posting, it felt a bit stressful, like I had to curate some version of me. I’m learning now that it’s not worth that pressure. Going forward, I want to be more real and just let the music speak.

Let’s talk about the EP. How do you feel your sound has developed compared to your earlier work?

For a while, I felt like the drums were the weakest part of my tracks. They didn’t really have the weight or presence they needed. With Reflection, I focused on improving that—making the drums more dynamic, more punchy, and making sure they actually drive the track. It made a big difference in the final sound.

You’ve got a distinct atmospheric touch—anything new you experimented with on this project?

Yes—especially with the vocals. I went really heavy on the reverb in some tracks, to the point where the lyrics are almost unintelligible. But that’s the point. I wanted the vocals to become part of the ambient texture instead of being upfront or literal. It adds another emotional layer that isn’t necessarily tied to specific words.

Finally—what do you hope people take away from Reflection?

Honestly, whatever they need to. Whether it’s a sense of calm, introspection, or even just a moment to zone out—I hope it gives listeners space to feel something. The details and meaning are theirs to discover.

Reflection by Anwius is out now on all platforms. Let the textures wash over you—and don’t forget to follow Anwius on socials to stay tuned for what’s next.

Meet Miss Medik: The Producer Behind 'Our Place In The Stars'

As Interstellar Audio continues to champion fresh, emotive, and boundary-pushing drum and bass, we're proud to introduce the mind behind our latest release,
Our Place In The Stars EP: Miss Medik. A classically trained musician with a deep love for liquid and orchestral-infused DnB, Miss Medik brings a unique perspective to the genre. We sat down with her to talk about her journey, inspirations, and what makes this EP so special.

From Classical Roots to Liquid Drum and Bass

Interstellar Audio: Let’s start with your background—how did you get into music production, and what drew you to drum and bass?

Miss Medik: I’ve been a musician all my life. My mum is a singing and piano teacher, so I was learning piano from a young age, and later I picked up the flute. I have grade 6 in piano, grade 8 in flute, and grade 6 in music theory. When I was fifteen, I discovered drum and bass and felt like I’d found my tribe. I became obsessed. A few years ago, I went sober and threw myself into raves, DJing, and producing—it became my new addiction.

Influences and Inspirations

IA: Who are your biggest musical influences?

Miss Medik: Within drum and bass, I’d say Keeno, Pola & Bryson, High Contrast, Logistics, Etherwood, and KOAN Sound. Outside of the genre, I draw inspiration from 90s trance artists like Tiësto, System F, and Paul Oakenfold, as well as electronic legends like Moby, Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, and Breakage. My classical influences include Hans Zimmer, Chopin, Bach, Debussy, and Einaudi.

Challenges and Milestones

IA: What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your career so far?

Miss Medik: The social aspect has been the hardest. I have Asperger’s Syndrome, which makes socializing difficult at times, and this scene is so energetic. It can be challenging feeling different from others, but the love of the music and the amazing people I’ve met along the way make it all worth it.

A big milestone for me has been merging my classical training with electronic music. That’s something I loved about early trance—it fused orchestral elements with dance music. To now be contributing to the deeper side of liquid drum and bass is something I’m really grateful for.

The Creative Process Behind 'Our Place In The Stars'

IA: What inspired the tracks on this EP, and how does it differ from your previous releases?

Miss Medik: My last release was darker and more upbeat, whereas this EP has a chiller vibe, with a strong emphasis on classical elements. Our Place in the Stars was directly influenced by the Interstellar soundtrack by Hans Zimmer—it’s my second favorite film, and I’ve wanted to incorporate elements of that score into my music for a while. I finally managed it with this track.

The Technical Side

IA: Any key production techniques or tools you used in creating this EP?

Miss Medik: I experimented a lot with orchestral layering, particularly with strings and pianos. I also used a lot of atmospheric sound design to create space and depth, ensuring the tracks felt expansive and cinematic.

Looking Ahead

IA: What’s next for you after this release? Any exciting projects or performances on the horizon?

Miss Medik: Yes! I’m incredibly excited to be DJing in support of Keeno at an upcoming Interstellar Audio / Keeno Music event later this year. I’m also focused on getting more orchestral drum and bass out there—I’m in the studio all the time working on new material, and I’d love to release more music with Interstellar Audio.

Final Thoughts

Miss Medik’s Our Place In The Stars EP is a stunning blend of orchestral beauty and deep, soulful drum and bass, showcasing her unique approach to production. Keep an eye out for her upcoming performances and future releases—this is just the beginning.

Listen to Our Place In The Stars EP now, and stay tuned for more from Miss Medik and Interstellar Audio!

Inspiring Courage… Keeno Music

Keeno’s journey to launching his own independent label, Keeno Music, has been an inspiring one. Renowned for blending classical elements with the deep, rolling energy of drum and bass, he has long been a standout artist in the scene. After years of releasing with Med School and establishing a dedicated fanbase, Keeno took the bold step of creating his own platform in 2022, carving out a unique space for orchestral drum and bass. With Keeno Music, he has not only refined his signature sound but also created a home for likeminded artists who share his vision of cinematic, emotive, and technically masterful productions.

Since its launch, Keeno Music has gone from strength to strength, celebrating 11 releases and six sold-out events in just two years. From the Courage EP to the anniversary compilation 1 Year of Keeno Music, the label has become a beacon for rich, melodic storytelling within the drum and bass community. Looking ahead, Keeno is continuing to push boundaries, with a recent announcement of a live orchestral performance—a testament to his commitment to bridging the worlds of classical music and bass-driven beats.

Interstellar Audio x Keeno Music: A Special Label Night

At Interstellar Audio, we’ve always championed artists and labels that bring something fresh and forward-thinking to the scene. That’s why we’re beyond honoured to be working with Keeno Music on a joint label night in Nottingham on March 7th—a night that promises to showcase the best in deep, emotive, and meticulously crafted drum and bass.

This event is more than just a lineup; it’s a meeting of musical minds—where Keeno’s orchestral soundscapes will meet Interstellar Audio’s deep, dark, and vibey aesthetic. Expect a night of carefully curated selections, exclusive dubs, and a truly special energy as both labels come together to deliver an unforgettable experience.
